Warm weather is just around the corner and with that, more skin will be showing!  For some of us, it is time for panic mode!  First there are tank tops and then comes swimsuits…..yikes!

Lighter weight and more reps will help with adding definition!

Seriously, though, I always get questions about how to get toned arms (and a flat stomach, which we will deal with on another day).  First, we should acknowledge that stronger arms might appear before toned arms, and that is ok.  Strength before beauty my friends.  However, with that strength, we will see more definition of those muscles eventually.  So, stick with a routine that employs the following tips and you will be ready to put on those tanks!!

 

  1. Switch up your moves with different types of exercises, including both bodyweight moves and traditional dumbbell moves, to hit all the different sides of the muscle.
  2. You won’t get results from one day of strength training. You should use weights two or three times a week; even if you aren’t focusing solely on arms, you can throw in some quickie moves like triceps dips on your leg day!
  3. If you think you can only do 15, push yourself to 20. For toning, it is better to lift lighter and do more repetitions. However, don’t go too light, if it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you!
