I love the ‘Why?’ questions I get from my clients because it gives me an open invitation to teach (my first career/love) –and, they can’t deny the invitation! I have had the “why so much water?” question a lot lately. So here you go, the short list of why we should strive to drink more water. Striving for about half our weight in ounces each day is any excellent goal. Starting your first bit of water first thing in the morning, will reinforce some of the benefits and will build a good foundation for a new, daily routine!
Why we drink water:
- It assists in healthy weight loss-You will feel less hungry and experience fewer cravings. Often thirst is mistaken for hunger-drink a glass of water before you eat, especially if you ate less than 3 hours ago.
- It improves metabolism-some studies claim that drinking sufficient amounts of water can increase metabolism by up to 30%!
- It rids your body of toxins-it make sense that we need water for those toxins to be flushed from our systems!
- It can help reduce heartburn and indigestion-these are caused by excess acid, and water will dilute the acid.
- It promotes shiny smooth, healthy hair and more supple skin-dehydration causes brittle hair (of which a ¼ of each strand is water, when healthy), and premature wrinkles.
- It offers flushing of and balance to the lymphatic system, which leads to increased immunity.
- It promotes healthier joints-by offering more lubrication for the moving parts.
There are probably more reasons-if you think of some, please share below and ‘teach’ the rest of us more reasons to fill up on water and enjoy a healthier lifestyle because of our better choices!
Until next time, Be Well-
Your Bff
